REPRI NT The important viral infections of pigs
نویسنده
چکیده
Agents not discussed are the following: rotavirus infections under natural conditions they usually do not cause diarrhea and piglets become disease resistant early in life; vesicular exanthema not present in Europe; adenovirus infectionsthey are mostly isolated from piglets without clinical symptoms; inclusion body rhinitis (cytomegalovirus) usually only described outside Europe without relevance; Torovirus infections identified in feces, but significance unknown; hemagglutinating encephalomyelitis virus naturally occurring diseaseis unknown; swine pox not important at present; encephalomyocarditis virus antibodies against this virus are frequently found in pigs bled in the slaughter houses without any history of disease (this virus was for a time thought to be associated with the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome[PRRS]); and the unclassifiedcongenitaltremorsvirus.

Trichinella britovi as a risk factor for alternative pig production systems in Greece and Europe
Trichinellosis is an important zoonosis and the most common source of human infection is meat from pigs and wild boars. The European Union (EU) supports alternative pig production systems (organic and free-ranging) as sustainable farming systems. However, these systems that allow outdoor access for farm animals, may create new or reintroduce old risks to public health. During the last years, al...
متن کاملEvaluation of Seroconversion in Guinea Pigs Following Inoculation of New Formulations of Rubella Vaccine
Background and Aims: Rubella is a contagious viral disease mostly with mild clinical symptoms and often remains undiagnosed. Rubella infection may adversely affect pregnancy, especially in the first trimester and this mother to child transmission can cause congenital rubella and may be lead to permanent disability and mortality in children. Effective rubella vaccine should be prepared using sui...
متن کاملVaccination against Mosquito Borne Viral Infections: Current Status
Mosquito borne infectious diseases are among important group of diseases worldwide. Vaccination is available for some tropical mosquito-borne diseases, especially for Japa-nese encephalitis virus infection and yellow fever. There are also several attempts to develop new vaccines for the other mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue infection and West Nile virus infection. In this articl...
متن کاملHSP Roles as Biomarkers and Antigens in Bacterial and Viral Infections
Diagnosis of infectious diseases remains an important issue in medical science. Identification of biomarkers can be used to predict early infections. Recently, heat shock proteins (HSPs) have been known as the conserved compounds expressed under stress conditions in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems. These proteins act as molecular chaperones. Several studies showed the increased levels o...
متن کاملPresence of Coronavirus, Enterovirus and Adenovirus in Municipal Wastewater as Indicators of the Prevalence of Associated Viral Infections in the Community
Background and purpose: Adenoviruses and enteroviruses as intestinal viruses are detected in wastewater. Fecal shedding of 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has been reported in some studies. Therefore, determining the presence of these viruses in wastewater is important to maintain public health and helps in predicting and preventing viral infections in a community. Materials and methods: I...
